In 1881, the Business course was first enhanced in the United States at Wharton School by the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia which was established in 1881 through donation from Joseph Wharton. The first Master of Business Administration institute was founded in 1900 previously known as the Master of Science in Commerce, founded by Tuck School of Business in Dartmouth College, while The Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration established the first MBA course in 1908.

Firstly Master of Business Administration curriculum was based on Frederick Winslow Taylor’s scientific management. At this time only American Universities are offering Business courses. In 1950, the first MBA outside of the United States was provided by Canada and after that, it started expanding all over the world. India became first Asian country to start this program in the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management at Kolkata (previously known as Calcutta) in 1953.
